What exactly is an e-bike?

An electric bike, or e-bike, is a bicycle equipped with an electric bike motor to assist you when you’re pedaling. The motor will get its power from a rechargeable battery mounted on the bike.

To classify as an e-bike, the motor has to help you rather than propel you on its own. As a result, you need to pedal to get that assistance. How much power the motor delivers is regulated based on how hard you are pedaling and the level of support or assistance you have selected.

Do I need to pedal?

Yes. The motor on the e-bike assists you when you’re pedaling rather than propels you on its own.  Some e-bikes have a throttle that will propel the bike without any pedaling but these are not legal in Spain.

Can anyone ride an e-bike? I'm not overly fit!

Accepted Answer

That's the beauty of e-bikes! Almost anyone can ride one whatever their age, ability or fitness level as the the electric bike motor assists you if you are struggling or riding up hill, or if you just fancy taking it a bit easy! The level of assist the motor provides you is adjustable, so you can select to have more or less assistance.

We'll give you a safety and instructional brief when we deliver the bikes.

Please note that the law in Spain states that you must be of 14 years of age or over to ride an e-bike.

Do I need to wear a helmet?

This is highly recommended. We provide each rider with a bike safety helmet as part of the rental package.

Question 5

How long can I rent a bike for?

Accepted Answer

Our rental periods are for a minimum of 2 days. For periods longer than 7 days, please contact us for a quote.

Rental periods include the drop-off and collection days. So for example a 3-day rental period would be:

Day 1 - Bike drop off in the morning at your requested time
Day 2  - Full day
Day 3 - Bike collection in the afternoon/evening at the requested time.

What size are the bikes - will they fit me?

The Engwe e-bikes are adjustable and fit anyone from  5.0 to 6.8 feet (ft)

Is there a delivery charge?

We offer FREE delivery and collection within our service area (25 kms from our base at Altaona Golf, 30155). For all other areas we charge a small delivery fee. We will confirm this upon booking or please contact us prior for a quote.

Please note we do not currently deliver to Murcia City Center.

Question 8

What if the bike becomes damaged, lost or stolen?

THEFT AND DAMAGE
In the event of theft or loss, the customer is liable for the full cost of the bike, even if the bikes had been locked, enclosed, or guarded. In case of theft a formal Police Report must be lodged, and a copy must be forwarded to us.

In the event of damage, however caused, the customer is liable for the full price of repair up to the full market value of the bike. You may pay an additional Premium Protection fee which in case of damage to the bicycle will reduce your liability by 75%. In case of damage a photo must be provided to us.

Where do I store the bikes?

The e-bikes must be stored securely, inside. They fold down so do not take up too much room.

The bikes should never be left unattended outside, even if locked.

Question 10

How fast are they?

Accepted Answer

This really depends on a number of factors such as your weight, your ability, the terrain etc. But the manufactures specification states  20-25 km/h.

Question 11

How far can I travel before the battery goes flat?

Accepted Answer

This really depends on a number of factors such as your weight, the terrain, the level of assist setting etc. But the manufactures specification states  100-150 km.

Charging time is 6 hours.

Question 12

I can't select the number of bikes I require

Accepted Answer

Only the number of currently available bikes for the dates selected are shown to you when booking. Try selecting a different date or contact us - sometimes we can source additional bikes.

Question 13

Where can I ride the bike?

Accepted Answer

Please ride the e-bike considerately whilst observing laws and local regulations. Generally it is not permitted to ride bikes on pavements and along pedestrian areas.  It is not permitted to take the bikes on to beaches as this can seriously damage the bike.

Although the bikes we provide are sturdy they are not designed for extreme off-road use and must not be used as such.

I'm having so much fun, can I extend my rental period?

Not surprising! Subject to availability, yes of course you can! You can extend either on a daily basis for €25,00 a day or book for 3, 5, or 7 day periods.  You can check availability and extend your booking online..

Question 15

What if I breakdown or get a puncture?

Accepted Answer

Our bikes are serviced before and after each rental. In the unlikely event that you breakdown, and cannot ride the bike home we'll arrange to pick you and the bike up.

Tube Sealant for quick puncture repair is included with each hire. If used the client is charged €15,00 for replacement.
